Rotella is the diminutive of ruota (wheel). In everyday use it refers to a caster on furniture, the scroll wheel of a mouse (rotella del mouse), or a small cutting wheel. Its plural is the regular rotelle, which is also the name of a wagon-wheel pasta shape.
