Usage Note

Schiaffare is informal and means to throw or shove something somewhere quickly and carelessly: schiaffare la roba in valigia (to fling stuff into the suitcase). It can also mean to slap. Its register is colloquial; in more formal contexts use mettere, gettare, or lanciare. Takes avere.
