Schiantare describes a violent impact or crash — schiantarsi contro un muro ('to smash into a wall'). The reflexive schiantarsi is very common for vehicle crashes. Colloquially, mi schianto can mean 'I'm exhausted/done.' It takes avere in the transitive and essere in the reflexive.
