Usage Note

Seriamente modifies verbs and adjectives — prendere seriamente (to take seriously), seriamente ferito (seriously injured). It can also introduce a tonal shift in conversation, equivalent to English 'seriously?' — seriamente, lo pensi davvero? (seriously, do you really think that?). The base adjective is serio; the noun is serietà (f).
