stazionario
stationary, stable
adjective stah-tsyoh-NAH-ryoh Rare
Usage Note
Stazionario describes something that is not changing or moving — used in medical bulletins (condizioni stazionarie, 'stable condition'), weather reports, and economic analysis. It is not a synonym for 'standing still' in the physical sense (for that, use fermo). Note the double meaning trap: English 'stationery' (writing materials) is cancelleria in Italian.
Examples
"Le condizioni del paziente sono stazionarie."
Natural Translation
The patient's condition is stable.
