Also means
to drain
Usage Note
Svuotare uses avere as auxiliary: ho svuotato il secchio (I emptied the bucket). It is the prefixed form of vuotare (same meaning), both common and interchangeable in everyday usage. The adjective vuoto (empty) is the base. Colloquially, svuotarsi (reflexive) describes feeling emotionally drained.
Examples
"Ho svuotato il bidone della spazzatura."
Natural Translation
I emptied the rubbish bin.
