tollerare
to tolerate
verb tohl-leh-RAH-reh Rare
Origin: From Latin tolerare (to bear, endure).
Also means
to put up with
Usage Note
Tollerare is a regular -are verb taking avere as auxiliary. It can mean tolerating physical discomfort (non tollero il caldo = 'I can't stand the heat') or showing social/ideological tolerance. Do not confuse tollerare with permettere (to allow/permit) — tolerating implies putting up with something unpleasant, not actively granting permission. Tolleranza zero ('zero tolerance') is a fixed phrase in Italian public policy discourse.
Examples
"Non riesco a tollerare il rumore."
Natural Translation
I can't tolerate the noise.

Not I-manage to tolerate the noise.
