tropicale
tropical
adjective troh-pee-KAH-leh Rare
Origin: From Late Latin tropicalis, from Greek tropikos (of the solstice), from tropos (turn).
Usage Note
Tropicale is invariable in gender (un clima tropicale, una foresta tropicale) and has a regular plural -i (climi tropicali). In Italian weather reports, afa tropicale describes heavy, oppressive summer heat and humidity even outside actual tropical latitudes — a hyperbolic but common usage.
Examples
"Le foreste tropicali ospitano migliaia di specie animali."
Natural Translation
Tropical forests are home to thousands of animal species.
