troppo

too, too much

adverb TROHP-poh Common

Also means

too many

Usage Note

Troppo functions as an adverb ('too much': mangio troppo), an adjective ('too many/much': troppi errori), and a pronoun. As an adjective it agrees in gender and number: troppa gente (f. sg.), troppi soldi (m. pl.), troppe domande (f. pl.). Do not confuse it with molto ('very/a lot'), which does not carry the negative implication of excess.
