Usage Note
Venire takes essere as its auxiliary in compound tenses, so the past participle agrees with the subject — è venuta (she came), sono venuti (they came). Its present tense is irregular: vengo, vieni, viene, veniamo, venite, vengono. In informal speech venire + gerund can express an ongoing process: viene fatto spesso (it is often done, passive nuance).
