Bookmakers is an unchanged English loanword used in Italian for betting agencies or the people who take bets. It is invariable in Italian (no Italian plural suffix is added). Il bookmaker (singular) is also used. The word entered Italian vocabulary through horse racing, where English sporting terminology dominated.
