Usage Note

Imbottito is the past participle of imbottire (to stuff, to pad) used as an adjective. It describes furniture, clothing, or objects filled with padding: giacca imbottita (padded jacket), sedia imbottita (upholstered chair). The feminine is imbottita. It can also be used as a noun: un imbottito (a padded item, e.g. a quilted jacket).
