Usage Note

Populista is one of the Italian nouns that is invariable in form between masculine and feminine: il populista, la populista. The plural changes only the article: i populisti, le populiste. It is used both as a noun and as an adjective (un discorso populista, a populist speech) and carries the same ambiguous connotation as in English.
