Proposto is the past participle of proporre ('to propose'), used adjectivally — la soluzione proposta ('the proposed solution'). It has an irregular past participle (from Latin propositus). The noun proposta ('proposal, offer') is derived from the same root and is far more frequent in everyday speech.
