Ripulire intensifies pulire (to clean) with the prefix ri-, giving a sense of thorough or repeated cleaning — 'to give something a proper clean-up'. In informal use it also means to rob or clean out: i ladri hanno ripulito l'appartamento (the thieves cleaned out the apartment). It takes avere as its auxiliary.
