Usage Note
Scudetto literally means 'little shield' and refers exclusively to the Serie A championship pennant stitched onto a winning club's jersey. Outside football it is rarely used. The team that wins it is said to vincere lo scudetto or cucirsi lo scudetto sul petto (sew the shield onto their chest).
