Also means
to unsheathe
Usage Note
Sfoderare literally means to draw a weapon from its sheath (sfoderare una spada), and figuratively to deploy a skill or quality dramatically: ha sfoderato un sorriso smagliante ('he flashed a dazzling smile'). The figurative use is very common in sports and journalism. The prefix s- reverses foderare (to line/sheathe). It takes avere as auxiliary.
Examples
"Ha sfoderato tutta la sua esperienza in campo."
Natural Translation
He drew on all his experience on the pitch.
