Lanciatore derives from lanciare (to throw/launch) and means a pitcher in baseball (il lanciatore di baseball) or a launcher (rocket launcher, grenade launcher). The feminine is la lanciatrice. In Formula 1 it can also refer to the driver who sets a fast lap to give a slipstream.
