Pareggiare is common in sports for drawing a match (la squadra ha pareggiato) and in accounting for balancing the books (pareggiare il bilancio). Takes avere as auxiliary. The noun is pareggio (a draw, a tie). Do not confuse with pari (equal/even), which is an adjective.
